A Long Road Ahead

VisualParadox

How many of you have worried about your chances of getting a job now or even in the future? It seems like there are many more of us after the most recent recession hit the United States.

The employment rate plays an important role when considering the chances of being employed. Currently, the unemployment rate is high and will be high for some time, which can have a great effect on you! According to Cara Newman, the editor of Young Money, “Not getting a job upon graduating college can affect you your whole life, leaving an entire generation playing catch-up with fewer chances. Those lucky ones who do find jobs may be paid less” (YoungMoney. Found in paragraph nine).

After 2 years brutal years, the recession seems to be over, but there is still a long road ahead for the recovery of the United States. The United States is still ten million jobs in the hole, which could take years to recuperate. Still, that would just be the number to get back to our original unemployment rate (5 percent) before the recession began. Even if economic growth picks up, matching future workers, like you, with new jobs seems like a slow and challenging process. Nevertheless, all of you will be on the job hunt in a couple of years, so keeping up with unemployment updates is very important.
